Renewed Or Cancelled?
Hometown Cha Cha Cha is a light, breezy romcom set in a quiet little seaside town. With good acting, a great ensemble and lots of heartwarming moments, it’s certainly one of the better k-dramas on Netflix right now. Generally each episode can be found on the streaming giants shortly after broadcast, with the hard-working subtitle team translating quickly. This 16 episode drama has been consistently good, releasing with the usual two episodes a week every Saturday and Sunday.
What is Hometown Cha Cha Cha Season 1 about?
Hometown Cha Cha Cha is a slice of life drama, depicting the lives of lovable residents in the town of Gongjin. There’s not much tension and most of the drama here revolves around the bubbling romance surrounding Du-Sik and Hye-Jin. Hye-Jin is from Seoul and slowly learns to grow accustomed to the small village life, partly thanks to Du-Sik’s fun, vibrant attitude. Most of the episodes depict their will they/won’t they romance, with numerous subplots revolving around the residents to help flesh out this world. Has Hometown Cha Cha Cha been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, tvN has not renewed Hometown Cha Cha Cha for season 2. Given the strong ratings over the weeks, it’ll be interesting to see if they actually do renew this for a follow-up. The ratings began with a respectable 6.8% nationwide and has been pretty steady, even increasing to highs of 11.397% during episode 10. Based on this there is a possibility that this will be renewed. However, given most k-dramas wrap up their stories in a single season, we predict that Hometown Cha Cha Cha will not be renewed. We’ll be sure to update this section with more details as the season progresses though.
What we know about season 2 so far:
Most Korean dramas are reserved to one season and with the rare exception of ongoing Netflix shows (Love ft. Marriage and Divorce, Hospital Playlist etc.) then it seems unlikely that this one will be renewed.
