Narco- Saints is the latest original K-drama from Netflix. It is one of the latest crime-thriller international projects on the streaming platform, and it’s quite a dramatic ride.
What is Narco-Saints about?
Narco-Saints is loosely based on a true story of a man who found himself helping in a secret government mission to bring down a powerful drug cartel. The show follows In gu, who runs a mechanic shop during the day and a Karaoke bar during the night. He is struggling to make ends meet for his family. He is a hard-working man who has had a tough life. He starts a business with his friend in Suriname but the business takes a turn he never saw coming. He soon finds himself in prison doing time for a crime he didn’t commit. He is left with no choice but to go undercover and help the National Intelligence Service to lure a drug lord into a trap. Has Narco-Saints been renewed for season 2?
At the moment, Netflix is yet to divulge any details on whether the show will be picked for a season 2. Normally, Netflix keeps its cards close when it comes to whether a show will be picked or dropped for a new season. However, season 1 of Narco-Saints is doing quite well on the platform. 5 days following its release on September 9th, the show became the third most watched Netflix show worldwide. This is a good indicator that the series has received positive reception and Netflix is likely to renew it. There has been a controversy about the show’s portrayal of Suriname. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Suriname publicly came out to call out the show and announced plans to take legal action. At the moment, we are not sure if this will reflect on Netflix’s decision to renew the show. What we know about season 2 so far:
At this point, we are all awaiting the green light from Netflix but fans are already talking about what they would like to see in season 2. Mostly, there have been heavy discussions on social media and viewers are requesting a spin-off following the story of Byeon Ki Tae. If the show is renewed, it is likely that the next season will have at least 6 episodes but unlikely that all the cast from season 1 will be back.
