Renewed Or Cancelled?
If you enjoyed Life & Beth, Amy Schumer’s new comedy-drama that recently aired on Hulu in the US and Disney+ in the UK, you will be keen to see a second series. The show is a funny and heart-warming delight, so it would be a shame if it didn’t continue. Thankfully, we have some good news for you.
What is Life & Beth about?
The first season followed Beth, a successful wine distributor, who quits her job after becoming unsatisfied with her life. She also dumps her boyfriend, moves back to her Long Island home, and sparks up a new relationship with John (Michael Cera), a local farmer. While at home, she reconnects with old friends, spends time with her sister, and makes an attempt to run her own business. She also comes to terms with the death of her mother and a personal health scare, two events that cause her to change her outlook on life. Will there be a Life & Beth season 2?
Yes! Schumer announced the news on The Howard Stern Show so we will get a further opportunity to catch up with Beth and the many other characters that were a part of this great show. The first season had 10 episodes and the second season will follow suit so there will be plenty of time to get to know Beth again as she moves forward in her life.
What will happen in the next season?
We don’t know at this time but at the end of season 1 (look away now if you don’t want to see any spoilers), Beth decided to resume her relationship with John after a few rocky encounters. As such, we fully expect them to be together in the next series. As for what else might happen, that is still unclear. Beth seemed to have everything together at the end of the first series – she reconnected with her sister, discovered a place for herself in the local community, and found love with a new man – but as the series will need some dramatic momentum, you can expect Beth life’s to be thrown into disarray somehow. We hope we will get more flashbacks in season 2. While the majority of the first season followed Beth as an adult, we did get to meet her younger self when she took trips down memory lane. These provided context for the person Beth had become and were as enjoyable to watch as Beth’s grown-up misadventures.
Who will be in the next season?
Amy Schumer will definitely be in it so that’s one thing we can say for sure. We expect Michael Cera to return too, although we don’t yet know if he realizes there will be a season 2. Schumer tried to tell him the good news over a video call but when he didn’t react to her, it became clear that he had a dodgy wifi connection. Well, either that or he was having a little fun with her! We’re sure she got through to him eventually though! Assuming Michael got the news, we should see him again, as well as Violet Young (young Beth), Michael Rappaport (Leonard, Beth’s father), Yamaneika Saunder (Kiana, Beth’s best friend), and Susannah Flood (Ann, Beth’s sister). These characters all made their mark in the first series and were as engaging to watch as Beth herself. If they don’t make a return, we will be very disappointed!
When will season 2 be released?
It’s too early to say but as the first season was released in May of this year, it might be that the second season will air around the same time in 2023. Hopefully, the series episodes will all drop at once, as was the case the first time around, as that will give binge-watchers the opportunity to see the entirety of the show in one or two sittings.
